It was a long bumpy ride over a dirt track with lots of pot-holes.
The hospital was very primitive and desperately needs help. There are only one or two doctors to provide care for 80 patients. The drug anaesthetic machine was provided by Merlin. We met with the Director of the county who told us that the area has the highest maternal mortality rate in Liberia.
We arrived at our hotel to find there was no water or electricity, and it is very hot and sticky. However, this was compensated by the most beautiful view of the sunset over the sea – from my hotel room window.
Please forgive the shortness of this blog – there is no way to use email here and I had to send this by text message!
Best Wishes,
Parveen
